The 5th Tom Crean Endurance Walk will take place on Saturday the 17th of June 2017.
This walk is for the over 18 only and at 19 miles it is not for the fainthearted but, it must be completed in under 10 hours to receive your Tom Crean Medal.
Therefore a cutoff time of 2pm will apply at the Conor Pass and 6pm at the Annascaul Finish.
This is not a guided walk and the walker is entirely responsible for their own navigation. Nevertheless we do put out some marker posts and there will be some marshals en route and at the various checkpoints.
A Route Map will be available as will GPS co-ordinates.
In the interest of safety all participants must be properly equipped for a long tough days hiking.
This should at a minimum include:
- Warm waterproof clothing.
- Well maintained mountain or hiking boots are the only acceptable footware.
- Enough food and water for 12 hours.
- A first aid kit.
- A number 70 Ordnance Survey Ireland map along with a compass and the ability to navigate in adverse weather conditions
