The Tom Crean Endurance Walk is a 20 mile walk across the Dingle Peninsula to commemorate the final 20 miles of Tom Crean’s epic walk.
The walk is based in the village of Annascual, Co. Kerry and is organised by the Annascaul Walks.
This is a self-guided event. As a participant, you are entirely responsible for your own navigation and it is required that you, or a member of your party, have the equipment and ability, to navigate in poor visibility which is quite common at this time of year.
Applicable maps (https://www.osi.ie) are a special Mount Brandon publication (1:25000) or standard OS #70 (1:50000)
Please, please, please respect village parking and use the GAA Parking located at the entrance to the village from the Tralee side. We rely on the hospitality of the villagers to conduct this walk.
We have been specifically asked to ensure no parking is allowed on the footpaths in Annascaul as there are wheelchair users and parents with buggies who need to use footpaths freely.
There are water stops at:
- Mullach bhéal
- Conor Pass
We have arranged bag transport from Annascaul to the Conor Pass and back to Annascaul. If you wish to leave food, dry clothes, boots, et cetera in a small bag, we will transport them to the Conor pass and return them to Annascaul for collection. Please add your walk number to this bag.
A barbecue is provided at the end of the event, at Hanafin’s bar on the Main St. This will be available from 16:00 onwards.
There will be toilet facilities at the South Pole on Saturday morning. There are no other toilets provided on the route.
Please note that this is check-in, no registration is allowed at this time.
Check-in is available upstairs/outside in the South Pole Inn on Friday evening from 6:00 PM. Check-in will also be available on Saturday morning from 6:15 AM again at the South Pole Inn.
Please bring your Eventbrite ticket with you.
As Covid is on the rise again please use a mask at check-in.
At check-in you will be required to read and confirm in writing that you have accepted the club’s indemnity. You must sign the indemnity in person before walk numbers are assigned. This is particularly important for people who are travelling in a group as you cannot check-in for others.
