TCEW 2023
Notice for attendees. Published 05 May 2023
Hi all,
I hope that you are all getting the opportunity to walk our mountains to breathe the fresh air and “put the miles in your legs”.
We are continuing our preparations for Tom Crean Endurance Walks (TCEW) 2023 and have an exciting weekend to offer you.
We are delighted to say that Rosemary and Julian Evans, grandchildren of Edward Evans, are joining us in Annascaul for the weekend to celebrate Tom Crean’s epic solo trek that saved the life of their grandfather Edward Evans and that of Bill Lashly.
On Friday evening we will have a short wreath-laying ceremony in the Tom Crean Garden across from the South Pole Inn, followed by a slide show from Julian Evans on the Antarctic.
On Saturday we will set out early on our annual Tom Crean Endurance Walk and celebratory BBQ afterward in the village.
For those staying over until Sunday, we are planning the short Tom Crean trail walk from the village to Ballinacourty graveyard to pay our respects to Tom Crean and complete the celebration.
A great addition this year, on display at the South Pole Inn, is a replica of the James Caird lifeboat, and an account of its famous voyage.
Some logistics:
There will be no food provided at the Conor Pass but there will be water. We will also have a facility for walkers to pack a small food/clothes bag which we will bring from Annascual to the Conor Pass and return to Annascaul for collection. The locations of water are shown as waypoints on the .GPX file.
Buses (added 05 June)
The busses will be in Annascaul at 6.30 and gone by 7.00.
One of the buses will do a single pick-up in Dingle at the back of Garveys Super Value (the side nearest the harbour) at 7:15. If you want a lift please be there as there are no other arrangements.
Changes to your Eventbrite ticket:
We understand that circumstances change and that walkers get injured so if you find yourselves in this situation, we offer you two options:
- A refund of your ticket, less the administration fee. The released ticket will then be offered to the next person on the Waitlist.
- The ability to edit the details on the ticket and so offer/sell it to another walker.
Whichever of these options you chose, you can implement it yourself on the Eventbrite website using the corresponding links below:
Notes:
Only the original purchaser of the ticket can make these edits.
